3 Myths about IV Therapy

IV fluid and nutrient replacement has been around for a long time! Recently it has grown in popularity, but there are still misconceptions and misinformation that we hear everyday. It is important to remain completely informed when we make decisions about our health, even more so when undergoing a new treatment. To help you feel confident in the efficacy and safety of the services provided at Vida-Flo, our clinic supervisor Dr. Aubert sheds some light on myths about IV therapy.

1. IV Therapy Only Needs to be Done Once

Most of the benefits of IV vitamin therapy are recognized over the long term with consistent treatments as a part of a well-planned healthcare regiment. There are benefits for short-term and spot treatments, but consistent treatment is most effective. In addition, IV therapy is best utilized when tailored for specific purposes. Low concentrations can often be ineffective! Whereas proper dosing ensures your safety, as well as optimal results. Our team works with every individual to determine a treatment that will help you meet your unique health and wellness goals – each and every visit.

2.  IV Vitamin Therapy Replaces a Healthy Diet and Lifestyle

IV treatment is not a free pass to eat poorly or drink excessively! There is no replacement for a healthy diet and smart lifestyle changes. IV therapy is ideally used to support existing health and wellness practices and to replace hydration, and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. It is ideal for patients with active lifestyles to boost the immune system and prevent illness and injury. Making it a popular treatment among serious athletes and busy professionals – especially those who frequently travel. Typically to assist with post-workout muscle recovery and post-travel fatigue. As well as improve sleep after “being on” too long!

3. IV Therapy is Not Safe

Getting an IV is a very safe and extremely effective way to replenish fluids, vitamins and minerals that the body needs. Of course, there are risks associated with all medical treatments. To alleviate this likelihood, all of our services are provided by highly-trained & certified professionals. They are properly trained on the safest procedures, with constant patient monitoring throughout the duration of the procedure, as safety is our highest priority! Another common concern among patients is that they will be left with bruises from the IV. But with years of experience, we promise to deliver a top-notch experience!

Thank you so much for clearing up what IV treatment is really for and how it works. My sister struggles to get enough water in her system but she’s healthy otherwise. Her husband has been looking into IV therapy for her to help her body get the hydration she needs.

It was helpful when you said that you get long-term therapy. My sister told me last night on the phone about how her immune system seems to be weakened since she has been getting sick a lot for the past couple of months, so she was thinking about trying Iv therapy for it. I’ll pass this information along to her so she can know more information about getting IV therapy!
